Tye’s 1973 LJ GTR
I purchased the 1973 LJ GTR in November of 2023 at Cootamundra.
The car had been in storage for over 20 years and required work to be registered again. The panel and paint will be restored in the future as the GTR has had damage on the left hand side. The current yellow paint is not the original colour and my aim is to return it to the factory colour ‘Orchid Metallic’.
Apparently the GTR has a racing history, but we are still researching the story behind it.
The upholstery is in good condition except for the door cards which will be repaired soon.
In the near future the 202 engine will be pulled out for a freshen up, triple 45 dcoe webers will replace the 350 holley and a Bathurst Tank will also be installed.
I drive the Torana every opportunity I get as it’s an escape from the pressure of everyday life. The last time I owned a LJ Torana was 26 years ago and I regretted selling it!
I am looking forward to making new friendships and continuing my journey as a Torana enthusiast.
