Ollie’s Garage 2024

Ollie’s Garage 2024

30 November

If last week’s club run in one word was ‘hot’ then this one was definitely ‘wet’!

After no rain for months, our November designated club run certainly broke the drought. With up to 50mm expected over the day, we knew the Toranas would be somewhat non-existent. But, well done to Jason F and his young bloke who cruised the duck-friendly conditions to both Ollie’s and the George Harcourt for lunch – nice one Jason!

We started at Ollie’s Garage for a tour with (one of) the Ollie’s himself, club member Ian. Ollie’s Garage is a rotational display of Ian’s private car collection, a car collection that would be the envy of most car clubs, let alone one person. At the moment Ollie’s Garage has an eclectic group of cars from a 100 year old Bentley to a 2024 Bentley, a Rolls Royce, an awesome VJ Valiant Charger, XY GTHO Phase 3, a Suzuki Mightyboy and even the surviving XT GT Falcon that competed in the London to Sydney race in 1968. On the Holden side there was an 48-215 (FX) with 14,200 original miles and EK Holden #1 off the Adelaide production line. It really was a great group of cars that Ian described as a survivor selection. Ian let us know he plans to rotate in a Holden focused display in the new year, so I am sure we will be back for that!
If you want to know more and even go on an amazing interactive virtual tour, check out olliesgarage.com.au, it is definitely worth a visit.

We then cruised out to our club sponsor George Harcourt Inn on the far superior North side of Canberra for lunch. As always the food was great and company even better.
