McHappy Day 2011

Every year the Canberra Torana Club attends McHappy Day to support Ronald McDonald House. This year was no different. With Ronald McDonald House being the clubs chosen charity, members turned up to the Queanbeyan store on Saturday to 'shake the bucket' and raise much needed funds for Ronald McDonal House.

Even though it was a Saturday 8 cars managed to attend to support this great event, which was a good effort given we also had a social run on Sunday to Marques in the Park. Members rolled in at around 9.00am to set up. The club trailer was broguht along as well as it is always a good opportunity to promote the club. Members took shifts to shake the bucket at the drive through queue. The public always seem very receptive of the day and showed their generosity by donating their hard earned cash!

Elmo made a special appearance to support the day which proved a good attraction for the kids. As well, there were also members from the Raiders, Brumbies and Fire Brigade on hand to do their bit for the great day.

The day was fairly relaxed and many people perused through the carpark after buying their lunch to check out the clubs display. As always we received a good response from the public.

Although we were only able to hang around for a few hours with members having other commitments with kids sport and the Queanbeyan show, we did well collecting donations. Without being to open the bucket I could only guess that we raised around $300. This was handed over to the store manager who really appreciated the clubs participation and thanked us for taking time to attend and contribute. As always the store looked after members generously food and beverage wise.

All in all the day was a great success and enjoyed by all.

Thanks to all the members who turned out to lend a hand. Thanks also to McDonalds Queanbeyan for allowing the club to display their cars in their very busy carpark and be a part of this great day. We will be back again next year to lend a hand again.
