Hume Go-karts run report.

It was another sad looking day outside! Today's run was going to be one
interesting challenge with so many so called "drivers" taking part in
the annual Canberra Torana Club go-karting championships. The attendance
was good considering the cool nip in the air and the cloudy outlook.

The meeting time was 9.30am. After arriving we all assembled and had the
usual gibber for 20 minutes or so. After the centre opened we headed in
to get our licences sorted. That done we climbed into our race outfits
(helmuts) and prepared for the rugged challenge ahead! The first run
there was 6 of us. Lawrie topped the times with a "lucky" 33.740
quickest lap time. I had no chance being the only Dad and Son duo!!
Second place belonged to Mick with a massive weight advantage (65kgs
wringing wet) and third place was Steve (Mr consistent). Brad managed to
take out last place as he was enjoying the scenery too much :-).

The second challenge was similar in placings but this time Mick out
sprinted Lawrie for first place by a mere .6 of a second. Third place
was a surprise Bailey (Mr spare parts son). There were 7 competitors in
this run with Deano taking Jamie out for a second run after Angus, (his
son), decided he would watch from the sidelines instead. Thanks Deano
:-), it gave me the chance to take the photo's.

In all it was a great day with very few crashes or spin outs. A
testament to the skill of us Torry nuts! Driving our little beasts has
definitely given us some sort of idea of how to handle the smaller
beasts. Many thanks to Hume Go-karts for their kind hospitality.

After the session concluded we decided to take off and have a look at Mr
Consistents new Sodablasting workshop up the road. Another short gibber
session and we all headed off on our own way!
