Marques in the Park
Sunday 30 October 2016

Hi all

On Sunday we had the annual Marques in the Park display at John Knight Memorial Park.  Our meeting time was 8.00 for an 8.30am departure at OPH.

Given that this weekend event clashed with Australian Muscle Car Masters in Sydney, it was always going to be a challenge to get a large group of members to the event. Initially we had 3 little Torana's and my big torana turn up to make the trek out to Belconnen. Things improved throughout the day and we ended up with 8 cars fronting and several other members in their daily drivers or as observers. We were actually lucky and were graced with a fairly much unrestored Palais white A9X 4 door. It was apparently not often taken out but the fellow whom brought it out was a good friend of the owner and convinced him that is needed a good run.  So with that, he drove it out to the show and displayed it with the club.  So a big thanks to both the owner and his friend for making this happen.

In addition we had a very neat UC Torana that I had not seen around before.  It was in terrific condition and as stock as a rock. Not sure of the owner but credit to them for a very nice car.

As usual the day was very casual but this time around we didn't have the club trailer. The car numbers were down a little but still a fantastic display none the less.

Thanks to those members that made the effort to come out.  The weather was also kind enough to not spoil the day as thunderstorms were predicted for the afternoon.

Anyway, enough from me.

Cheers, Gerry
